If a country is emerging out of an oppressive state of affairs, should the emphasis be more on materialistic issues (i.e. striving for financial equality) or idealistic issues (i.e. striving to change mindsets)?
I feel the idealistic approach is what is needed to let limitations/laws, thereby changing the mindset of others, so that we can begin to re-establish financial equality.
I think in order we to change things, we need to change the laws of a certain place to get people to do the things that need to be done. Even though people's ideals may not change, but if they had to do it, then I think some people could possibly change their opinions about some things. And if they don't follow the rules then they must suffer the consequences. I think changing the materialistic issues first can change some the idealistic issues.
i think the first step is to change the peoples mimd set they way you think determinds alot of things although materalistic is a component of change i think idealistic has a greater weight.
about the project i think is is grEAT IDEA BUT I THINK WE NEED 2 REMEMBER THAT THIS ARE TEENS WHO BORE EASYBSO THERE FOR WE SHOULD DO SOMETHING THAT THE KIDS WILL NOT FORGET
Changing mindsets can be a struggling task. I think that depending upon the situation that attacking the mindset would be first. However in a situation like taking back land that was stolen you would have to struggle with those harbouring materialistic issues over who the land's rightful owner is. I may be wrong but I think of it as when the state decides on building a new highway in front of your yard. Either you are going to decide to have a main highway in your front yard and deal with the safety hazards when you have family cookouts and get-to-gethers, even though it's been in the family for generations or you are going to accept there reparation for your land.
I believe that if a country is emerging out of an oppressive state of affairs the emphasis should be more on idealistic issues because before anything can happen or you can make change- it must be thought of. So the mindset has to change and people have to be on the same accord.
